New issue of Camaro Performers

Have any of you guys seen the new issue of Camaro Performers Magazine? It has a couple of interresting items. On page 66 is an article on an irs system for first gen f-body cars. I don't know if it could be adapted to third gens, but it would be interresting to try it. The other thing that looked interresting was a parragraph in the new products section on a True Dual Exhaust system from Bassani for 4th gen f-bodies. The first product is for 2000-2002 models with 98 & 99 models to follow. I don't know how much difference there is between a third gen and a fourth gen from the cat back. I wonder if one of these set ups could be fitted to a dual cat third gen? I suppose that if it can be done, Allen will do it soon!

I have installed the SLP Loud Mouth on two difference thirdgens. One on my IROC the other on my Z28 as far as the SLP kits there really is not much tweaking required to get those 4th gen kits to fit on a thirdgen. The only difference was I bought the LT1 Loud Mouth kit for the IROC (single cat) and the LS1 style for the Z28 (dual cats)

i am not postive of this but some where i heard if your can is 12-15 years old you mount your exhaust in a different position under the car as long as you have cats. that being said it seems like you could run true duals with out going through factory location. again not postive.

There is virtually no restriction on what you do from the cat back. The smog control system is between the intake and the cat. The problem is finding room to run the system, and the cost of mandrel bent pipes to make a true dual system.

BMR offers a new panhard bar brace that makes room for true dual exhaust to run over the axle on 3rd and 4th gens.

So, it can be done. But as Russ said, the cost of the pipe could make for an expensive system.

That was why the original post noted that Bassani is offering a true dual cat back exhaust system for 4th gens. If it is a production item, it may not be as costly if it can be adapted to 3rd gens without too much difficulty.

Had a friend that autoxed a '90 Formula and he put a true dual exhaust on it. Very nice work. Said it cost $600. Wished I had taken pictures of it back then.
