I'm now a proud owner of two Thirdgen camaros
Today I bought a 1989 RS. AND...its a manual. AND I bought it for only...$500. The body is in great condition except for the driver side. It was side swiped, so I was going to pick up a fender and door from the junkyard at the next 1/2 off day. After their replaced it should look great.
The reason I got it for so cheap is because of a problem the previous owner couldn't figure out. He just wants it gone, but still loves the car. Weird uh? He says it will drive just fine and then after a while it will bog badly. Its also running rich cause it wreaks of fuel. The connector of the MAT wire is also melted from someone not plugging it in and it resting on the exhaust manifold. I thought I got this. Sounded like an ICM issue because I had the same problem with my Z28.
I plug in the scanner and of course the MAT reads -40 degrees because its not plugged in. But to my surprise the coolant reading was also -40 degrees. I think those are the two culprits. What worries me is that the coolant sensor is new because the previous owner replaced it. So maybe the connector is bad, I dont know. When I get some time this week I will dig into it.
I must say, manual is a lot of fun to drive.
P.S. This car has a working factory CD player.

It probably is the connector, I have had that happen.
Congrats on your purchase.
