Junkyard: Three Undisturbed LT1s
Just a heads-up for anyone interested in LT1 engines:
Two LT1s are in 4thgens, completely intact--airbox, MAF, intake, accessories, engine--everything is there, engine compartments are still complete, little-to-nothing messed-with. Both are '94s, one in a Z28, the other in a Trans Am, both have automatic transmissions.
The third LT1(also completely intact) is in a Caprice. This one is easy to overlook because of its enormous triangular air silencer(looks like a big black shield covering the top of the engine).
There was another, I believe, LT1 in a 4thgen Z28, but that engine was stripped down to the long block--good for someone who's just interested in a block to work with, easy to pull too. The junkyard-scribble on the quarter panel said "305," but I don't think any 4thgen Z28s came with a 305, did they? The bore appeared to be 4"(although I only used my finger to measure), and it had a cam-driven water pump gear.
Few-to-no thirdgens to report on. They've gotten very hard to find in the last year or so.
The junkyard is the Ecology in Adelanto, off of Highway 395 near Victorville. Ecology is having a 1/2 price sale on Super Bowl weekend, but that's still two weeks away, so it's doubtful these will still be clean by then.
If anyone likes early 4thgen Trans Am 3-spoke swirl-style 16" wheels, the above LT1 TA had all four(not sure if all the centercaps were there or not, some were). The wheels need refinishing(or chroming), but they'd be worth it.
In thirdgen wheels, there was a '91 RS 'Vert with a full set of color-keyed 16" Z28 wheels, inserts painted bright blue metallic(originally red). The centercaps were missing though. This car was also completely undisturbed under the hood. It was only an LO3, but for someone looking for a good complete serpentine set-up, it's all there.

Re: Junkyard: Three Undisturbed LT1s
Here's a pic of the car and its wheels(all four are there), for which Lon has the centercaps. Those centercaps are probably more in-demand than the wheels themselves.
And if anyone is in need of convertible parts, contact Lon. I believe he has all of the 'vert-related parts off of this car. This car was in good shape for a junkyard car, and the parts were still pretty good, or I doubt Lon would've found them salvageable. I've seen worse thirdgens still on the road.

I'm probably going to go ****** one of those LT1s. Anyone have a line on a T56? Would like to put one in my '69 shortbed.
