Where to get a new torque arm bracket?
I'm doing the 700r4 - t5 swap and basically everything is done except for one snag I hit. Whoever removed my t5 took a sawzall to the torque arm bracket and cut it in half.
Anyone know where I can get a new torque arm bracket or some aftermarket option that would work? I was thinking of cutting the one off the 700r4 in half and welding them together making a good bracket is that a bad idea?

The bracket for the torque arm is different between manual and automatic transmissions. So, basically chopping the old 700R4 bracket in half is not that bad since you do not need it.
The bracket should be a pretty easy junkyard find. Otherwise, the two halves of the bracket are should still be dealer-stocked. Try a GM#10024028 and #10024025. The associateed bolts are different too.
