hey all,

I am really in a large bind and need your help. I have been reading all the "wheel fitment" threads in the world and seen all the diagrams but I still cant figure out the relationship between offset and backspace. It looks like they directly affect eachother but I just CAN NOT get it right. I don't know what one does to the other, etc.

I am trying to figure out which 16 x 8 TT II's I need the 4" B.S./ -11.43mm offset or the 4.75" B.S./7.62mm offset. Can I use one size for all 4 corners or do I need 2 of each and if so...how will it affect the look (i.e. stick out too far, etc).....car is a 92 Z

offset and backspace are basically the same. They are used to measure the wheel mounting flange distance(s).
Backspace is measured from the rim edge
Offset is measured from rim width centerline. Imaginary line in the middle of rim width.

now according to guide in the sticky here...
8" rims 4" backspace are equal -12 offset
8" rims 4.75" backspace are equal roughly +6/+7 offset

The LESS backspace the more "tucked-in" or closer to center of the axle (or pumpkin) they will be. The MORE backspace the more they will protrude from wheel well.
Positive offset pushes wheel OUT
Negitive offset pulls wheel IN

So what you will need to do is either call up american racing (and they will tell you what you need), or do some measuring.

If you have stock 16" rims, measure backspace manually. Mounting flange to rim, that will tell you your backspace you need. Yes the front and rear will probly be different.
