widest 15"?

what is the widest 15" tire that I can fit on my rim? Tirerack.com says that one model came with 235/60/15 stock. I'm running 215/65/15 right now. What is the widest tire I can get on that rim? 245? I dont have $$ to buy different rims and want to stay with 15" for now.

235/60/15's look like they were meant for a 7" wide wheel. They fit and clear anything by a mile. I've run 245's on a 7" rim but it's starting to look buldged and you will wear the center of the tire out before the edge no matter how low you drop your air pressure to.

they don't handle very well, but i never had a problem with them popping off or anything.

275/60/15:

in this picture, both cars are running the 275/60/15 tire size but the one up front is on a 15x10 weld rodlite and the one in the rear is on a factory wheel.

I had a 295/60/15 on my old 85. Just had to watch for rough r&r x-ing's. I sliced a tire up taking one at good speed. I wouldn't reconmend that size. I got them for free and needed a new set for the back do to that 350 . lol. I would go with the 235/60/15 like stated. Those are what the base 89 IROC's got when equiped with the 15's. I had them on my car for like a month. They looked good on there. I have the 215's on there now. And they squeal like a pig going around corners. So i'm with you on that one. Adam :-)

i will go with the 235 for now. I hope it holds. I havent tuned my new build yet, but once it is, it will need some good meat. I guess i need to bite the bullet and buy bigger wheels

thanks!

BTW: Can you post a pic of those 295's?
