Has anyone trimmed their Jamex springs?
Just wondering if anyone experimented with their Jamex springs and cut a 1/2 coil or full coil off and if so did the performance change or stay the same.

Hey Tom, if you procede, do so cautiously. You can always take more off is what I'm getting at. You'd be surprised how much lower you'll be by just taking a 1/4 of a coil. A full coil will slam you to the ground!
Use a die-grinder with a cut off wheel, don't use a torch. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Yeah, I hear ya. I have all the right tools and the books describing how to do it the right way. One thing I am not sure is really necessary though is what one book describes as heating the end, and then pressing it flat against the ground, to make it sit flat after you are done cutting it.
I'm tempted to try cutting my springs. I am after a slightly lower stance and possibly making it sit equal, front to rear.
Like I said, I'm just toying with the idea right now.

Hey Tom,
How much did your Jamex springs actually lower the car, and what is the spring rate? I went with Global West S-9 front springs, and they lowered it about 1" and they have just enough rate to keep it from bottoming out. I actually spend less time on the bump stops now then when I had my stock BZN front springs in. When I put the car on the ground and looked at my bump stops and saw how little suspension travel I had, I was a little concerned. I wouldn't want to go anymore than 1" drop w/ springs. You and I have the same front tire except mine are 17x9 and yours 8.5, but I have no rub with 1" drop. I think anymore drop and I might rub.
BTW, did you ever get those bellhousing bolts out? Better head to the store with Vader and pick up some never-sieze! ;-)

Jason, they lowered my car about 1.5" from what it once was.
I have learned that lowering a car 1"; or 1.5" in the marketing literature means nothing. Because eveyones car seems to be different now that they are 10+ years old. For example, 4 guys in my club all have the Jamex lowering springs and everyones car sits at a different height. My 1.5" drop might have only been 1" on your car, depending how your car sat before with stock springs. Get my drift?
Anyway, I don't remember what the spring rate is, I knew it at one time and I have the Jamex catalog buried somewhere. I was just wondering if anyone had trimmed their JAMEX springs, not just springs in general.
As for the bellhousing bolts, yeah LOL I got them out easily once I had a decent swivel socket and my MAC impact gun. And I already have two different kinds of anti-sieze in my garage. Turns out I did not need to remove my trans or clutch. Centerforce could have saved me a lot of grief if they simply would have included an informational sheet stating a longer t/o bearing may be required with their clutches!
