panhard locator bar

ok so the bar that has 3 bolts into the frame rail and 1 through it in the other side, is it suposed to be like off center? i pulled it out of my car and layed it on the ground (changing the fuel pump) and it doesnt lay flat, if i put the 3 hole side flat the other side is like 30* off being flat, i know pictures would help more but i forgot to take and now its too dark, thanks

Re: panhard locator bar

it shouldnt be twisted, since both mounts are on the same plain, or close enough, there may be a little difference. If it bolts into the car, its fine.

Its not a piece that can be bent easily, if it is damaged, that means the car is damaged too, since it would take quite a hit before that brace would move.

Re: panhard locator bar

i just scrapped one recently tha ti took of my 92, i dont have any pics of it alone, but here

you can see it in both pics, and it does seem to have a small twist on the passengerside end, unless its sitting on the spring perch in the pic. the panhard is bent and twisted....

like i said, the brace does look like a bent mess, but thats what its supposed to look like

Re: panhard locator bar

I recently R&R'd my panhard bar and brace, mine looks the same as 86TA's pictures imply.

they are pretty big on my screen. you can right click on them, save them to your computer, open them in paintshop/photoshop or whatever, and blow them up. thats all i could do with them, since those are the full size ones that i have.

Re: panhard locator bar

I have some with it on the car if that will help. Mine wasn't twisted or anything it was just bent for the exhaust. I popped it off just to get the rust off and repaint it. Came right off and went right back on so no twisting there.

Here are some pics.

And the reason why I took it off in the first place. Notice the bolt rotted and broke off.
