are my shocks going bad?

The other day i was cruising down the local highway (a tad over the speed limit) and the traffic light had turned yellow...i punched it and was at about 105 when i went through. When i was going it felt like the front of the car had picked up more than usual and almost felt like an accumulation of air and the car was "floating" while it was going.
About 10 years ago i put all new KYB shocks in but no new springs. Could this be from the shocks going? or maybe cuz of the new 350 vs the old 305? I've always had aspirations of lowering about an inch so i'm not saying its a bad thing if the suspension needs to be rebuilt....

Re: are my shocks going bad?

Shocks are the type of part that not only wears out with use, but loses effectiveness with age. (leaks etc.) Most of the deterioration is so slow and gradual, you usually don't notice it, until you realize that your wheels dribble like a basketball over rough places and stuff like that.

As cheeeeeeeep as they are, just change em out. You'll probably amaze yourself. Do the rears first since they're SO EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZY, and if you like what happens, do the struts as well.

105 through a traffic light? You need to find a safer playground.
The lower air damn flows air up and that air lifts the car from under hood pressure. I usually notice it at 120 or so. Your 10 yr old KYB's are not helping.
Lowering would help, also.

Well since once you take the rear out, the shocks are already about ¾ of the way out, .... what will you be waiting for?

What, acoupla days worth of coffee?

In the end, either you want your car to be nice/fast/beautiful/original/agile/whatever, or you don't. P&Ming about money doesn't get you any closer. It just annoys the crap out of everybody else.

You know what you need to do. Now go figure out a way to put it into effect.
