3.42 open
whats up guys. Just reporting in. I just finished installing a 3.42 open rear end in my camaro. I did it in my drive way and it took me about 6 hours. Thats including dropping 2 rear ends and installing the 3.42 in my car. As for performance, I didnt notice anything off the line (from a dead stop), but I did notice it pulls alot harder into 2nd and third. BTW I drive an auto 305 TBI. It wasnt that hard (if you have the right tools). tools I used-
complete set of standard sockets and metric sockets (1/4 drive).
half a$$ set of standard and metric wrenches
3 hydralic jacks (two rated at two tons and one rated at 4)
an electrical impact wrench (if it wasnt for this tool i'd till be turning wrenches
a flash light a drop light and a power strip for the light and impact wrench
Good luck to all- summer isnt over yet keep modding!
