Where is the MAT sensor?
This may sound like a dumb question, but where is the MAT sensor? The Hayne's says it is in the air cleaner assembly in TBI engines, but all I see is the IAC sensor! The MAT sensor they gave me looks IDENTICAL to the coolant temp sensor, and I am not sure they gave me the correct sensor. But anyway, any help at all would be appreciated, and thanks in advance!

My friend, i went through a very, very long and interesting journey myself trying to find the answer to this very same question. The first part of this lesson is that all people that work at auto stores are generally morons. They gave me the coolant sensor also, trying to tell me it was the Manifold Air Temperature sensor. What the Haynes manual calls a MAT sensor the people at the auto parts store call an Intake Air Temperature sensor, or IAT. Because nobody could decide on the what to call the damn thing, the people at the auto parts stores get confused. The right part is a little plastic thing with a 2 pin connector and a bizarre looking end that plugs into the bottom of the air cleaner assembly. When you take your air cleaner lid off, you should see a little round hole towards the back, close to where the oil breather filter sits. That hole is what the MAT or IAT sensor plugs into. I hope that helps. Good luck!
