TBI build sugestions.
I'm getting ready to pull the LO3 out of my firebird. I want to build it up a little, re-ring and bearing it, and mainly, fix the oil pan. I plan on using a pair of 601 casting heads, Because they where free, recently rebuild, and already have some mild port work done. I have a cat back exhaust, plan on headers and y- pipe when i do this. I plan on a better than stock cam, though still researching what. I have a 2000RPM stall converter in my car already, as well as a 3.23? posi out of a GTA. I'm researching chip burning right now. What im wondering is if the stock TBI will be enough with these heads and a decent cam, OR if i should go BB TBI. I already have a set of 350 injectors, but will they be enough? Trying to plan a head and get the right parts together. I dont care that my car be the fastest, but i want a better edge than i have over my buddies Subaru wagon!! Is it fesable to shoot for high 13's, low 14's with a 305 bottom and those heads? Oh yeah, and still make it emissions legal?

The stock throttle body should be fine. The ones that came on the 350's were the same as the 305's except larger injectors. I don't know anything about those heads so I can't help ya there.
How did that 2000 stall affect your MPG?

Last time i checked, 22mpg driving around with my foot to the floor. But that was a bit of highway miles. I cant say how it affected it, because it was in there when i got the car. Although, traction does tend to be an issue, even with 245's and a posi. But hopefully, good new tires will help that.

There is a company thast can rebuild the stock TBI unit aqnd make it awesome.
I want to say Jet Performance or Jet Chips..
I read the article in Chevy High Performance.
They got about 297 rwhp out of a 305 TBI motor..
They did heads, cam, intake, tbi unit, headers, and chip

Thanks for the replies, but if had a change of mind/plan. Gonna pull the TBI 305 out complete and put it under the bench, And build a very hot 350 or 383 carb motor, and just take a weekend, and swap motors when it comes time to smog.
