valve lash adjustment

so i decide to do a valve lash adjustment today, i did it awhile ago but incorrectly, so i decide to redo it, the motor is puring now the idle is perfectly smooth, but it seems to be lacking in the upper rpm torque. the last time i adjusted it i would crank the motor till one of the rockers would be pushed in then i would ajust the the other rocker for that cylinder till there was no slop+3/4 turns this time i cranked the motor to #1 TDC and adjusted it according to the autozone guide but instead of going one full turn past zero lash i went 1/2. then go to #6 TDC and do the others, now the motor runs much smoother but i think i lost some toque.

i did some surching but it did little help some people say 1/8-1/4 turn past zero lash, other said 1 full turn, it kinda makes since that you might get more power out of 1 full turn past zero lash compared to 1/8 because u'll be getting more lift. so has anyone else experimented with this, which gives you more power 1/8 turn or 1 full turn?

With hydrolics you aren't really getting more lift, all you are doing is getting into the range of the plunger, I go about 1/4-1/2 turn, all you are doing is making it so that there isn't slop, and so the hydrolic lifters can do their job. If you go too far, then you can crack the valve open, if you don't go enough, then you are hard on valve train parts, and you have some slop between the pushrods and lifters and rockers.
