Camaro wont start

The other night i parked my car for about an hour and then tried to start it and it wouldnt start. I could hear is cranking but it just wouldnt fire. I checked under the hood to make sure something wasnt loose and everything was fine. Tried to keep starting it and the same thing would happen. Then I got in it the next morning and it fired right up? Any ideas on what i might want to look into so this doesnt happen again.

Re: Camaro wont start

specs on the car??? year, carbed, FI, motor, ect.

first things you can check are electrical connections to make sure that they are secure and together, 9 times out of 10 there isn't going to be anything jumping out at you, but some of the most basic problems were in plain sight. Other than that, you would have to get into it a little bit more, check fuel pressure, check spark plug wires with a tester to see if it's shooting spark through them. I mean i had a spark plug wire that i didn't realize wore away and coudln't figure out why it woud'nt start up but would sit there and crank, until i tried it at night and saw a blue arc everytime the spark plug was supposed to get power. You need to check different things as you go along.

If it started up the next day, then it seems as though these problems really aren't problems...yet, but they may become a problem, so it may be a good idea to have a tune up and have some of the basic things checked, spark plugs, wires, distributer, fuel pressure, fuel filter, ect. I've also heard many cases like this, with no reasonable pin point answer, it just seems as though you shut it off and try it an hour later and it doesn't work, these things happen.

As for your question, it's too vague for any one person to pin point it unless we're there with the car infront of us. Anyways good luck!!

Re: Camaro wont start

hey thanks for both of your replys. Yeah I know this was pretty vague, but i was just looking for some possible answers. And you have answered that for me. Im going to change the spark plugs and wires and fuel filter since i already have them and havent changed them. Hopefully its like you said and just one of those things that happens. thanks a lot.

oh by the way its tbi

Re: Camaro wont start

No problem, like i said, good luck! Also with TBI it gets a little more indepth, your fuel injectors may be dirty, clogged, or a couple other things, possibly try a fuel injector cleaner next time you fill up. God knows if that stuff actually works, but i have to assume that it's engineered to be safe for your injectors so it has to do something.

And a little trick with tbi...i'm sure other's probably won't condone it...but if your having a bit of trouble starting it...try a little starter fluid, but you have to be VERY careful about where you spray it, to make sure you get it down into the throttle body, not on the injector pod or any other parts, and stand clear when you go to start it...it may work, but if it starts right up, you may have a lil issue with your fuel, if it doesn't start up you may have an issue with your spark, all things to think about...good luck anywayz!

Re: Camaro wont start

I'd check your ignition system first . It sounds like your ignition coil is defective . Does it only happens at cold weather ?

Re: Camaro wont start

hmm you know what you might be right. I mean i parked it for a few hours and it was a cold night out. probabley around 40 degree maybe 50. and the next day when it started it was probabley like 75-80 degrees. and i do have a new coil for it. i just bought the car a few months ago and i havent changed it, it looks newer but you never know.
