porting 187's come inside to help

so 2 days ago i started to port my current 187 heads for my new setup this year. basically i did a complete exhaust port and a little over half of an intake. it took 2 days because i used maybe 2 hours max and i was going slow making sure not to nick the valve seats. in the exhaust ports i rounded the valve guide and smoothed it out. i also cut back as far as i could below the seat and rounded the transition from the inside wall to the exit of the port. for the intake side i basically ground as much under the seats to make it flush as possible the rounded the rest of the transitions where itd be too much to take off. as for the ramp i just ground the casting flash off and rounded the 90 degree angle where it meets the wall. i also started the part where the intake manifold meets it and i basically just removed casting flash and rounded the corners more but couldnt get too far in i need either longer bits or to get my extension working again. although there was a bump on the roof or floor which i ground out that stuck up enough to make a difference. on the valve guide i just rounded the top edges just because, i dont think thatll really help though. also for the intake port can i just leave the carbide cutter smoothness on there and not polish it to leave a rough enough finish so fuel doesnt stick? or should i go through with stones or 60 grit sandpaper to where i can reach it? and the exhaust side i used 120 grit sanding wheels where i could get at and smoothed it out. here are some pictures to show progress so far, sorry about quality i only have a camera on my phone and it was hard to light it to where you could see it.

i thought id be brave and put these 187s to the test and after im all done ill try and get some dyno numbers this year. my thoughts were tpi works great to about 45-4800 and so do the swirl ports so in use together that theyll make for great lowend power together. sorry about putting this thread in here i figure the tbi guys can relate to the 187s more than anyone else and i was looking for dynodon and fast355 who i think both ported swirl ports advice to see how im doing.

Re: porting 187's come inside to help

ok no help guess im figuring this out on my own its pretty simple anyways. but anyways ill keep updating with new progress pictures and such and results in about a month or two when its on the road again.

heres the unported stock swirl port intake port.

heres a partially ported exhaust port, note the lip in the bowl area which has to be very restrictive which ive taken out on all of them so far and rounded off.

i find im doing better now that i know what im doing basically just replicating the only thing that angers me is the damn egr ports in the back of the exhaust port its just so in the way. if anyone attempts i suggest 2 things. 1) take as much time as possible not to mess anything up theres no second chances here. 2) where safety glasses i just got a tiny piece of metal in my eye last night i had to take out because it was bugging me.
