305+lt4 hot cam+Aluminum Heads=??
well ive decided to do a lt4 hot cam swap into my little 305 ive already done the lt1 cam swap and was mildly impressed once i got a clear understanding of tuning so my new setup will look something like this
lt4 hot cam and springs
a set of 14101128 aluminum vette heads fully ported and setup to go machined to except larger valve springs
edelbrock performer intake
454 tbi with ultimate tbi mods and ported and 75lb per hr injectors
gm performance parts self-aligning 1.6 rockers
rbobs ebl backing the tuning up
an a walbro 190lbh fuel pump when my current one gose out right now the one in there is running strong
i know there are a few members on this board who have done the lt4 hot cam swap id like a little insight into what there thoughts were once they completed it

Re: 305+lt4 hot cam+Aluminum Heads=??
also the heads have been milled down to 54cc i believe the stock lo3 heads are 58cc so it should bump compression up to around 10

Re: 305+lt4 hot cam+Aluminum Heads=??
Some told me that it would be hard to tune my application as well, but not too bad with an EBL and WB. What are the size of the valves on the heads?

Re: 305+lt4 hot cam+Aluminum Heads=??
Talk to Fast. Im sure he will have a different opinion on the tuning part. Can someone tell me why it would be hard to tune???? If you know what you are doing on the tuning side I say go for it. The EBL and a WB should help imensly!! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Re: 305+lt4 hot cam+Aluminum Heads=??
i would assume (and we all know what assuming dose) that getting the ae tuned correctly and just overal drive ability of the car is the hardest part im sure fast will chime in on his thoughts from what ive came up in my searches so far is everyone who has asked about this swap has been shot down due to the tuning factor

My friend Tim has my old 305 in his Bird now , and it has the Lt-4 hotcam and ported TBI heads with a tuned port . He is a tuner for a living though . His name on here is 11sORbust . He could definitely help you , if he has any time . He is very busy .

Re: 305+lt4 hot cam+Aluminum Heads=??
Stock pistons in the stock block should be .025" below deck. A .015" gasket gives the ideal .040" quench height. Problem is, the only ones I've seen that thin are steel shims. It takes ***** to put a gasket like that on an aluminum head.

You will not need to port the 454TB on pretty much any 305, im using a stock 454TB for my supercharged build and even then it might be too much flow. if i were you i would just get 350 injectors and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Re: 305+lt4 hot cam+Aluminum Heads=??
I have steel braided fuel lines and im only running about 10lbs. All I have now is exhaust though.
Use the 75lb injectors then, I just cant see a N/A 305 needing all the flow of a 454 let alone a ported 454TB. I think I read the 305/350TB is good for like 300whp or 350whp. With the Hotcam and heads and a good tune I cant see much more then 250-300whp. So the stock TB with bigger injectors would handle it fine.
And what fuel pump are you running? If its the stock one then you really need to upgrade it.

Re: 305+lt4 hot cam+Aluminum Heads=??
370fwhp would be about 300rwhp
With my supercharger, L98 vette heads [LT4 internals], comp xfi268 cam everyone said I should be in the upper 300rwhp. So I cant see you making much more then the 250-300rwhp range like I said. But be sure to post the dyno numbers after you get it all tuned.

Re: 305+lt4 hot cam+Aluminum Heads=??
Yeh, I just went with the Edelbrock 3704, for simplicity reasons. I dident want to make any more problems for myself so I just went with what is basically the only stock replacement manifold. Should flow a little better then stock.
All I want with my car is too be able to beat all the ricers. And not have to worry about all the Mustangs with the simple stuff done to them [Exhaust, Intake]
