new to fuel injection, running lean. (sorry i dont know what i'm looking for)

first off, sorry if this has already been discussed but i have no idea where to look or what to look for to help me. i've gotta 91 rs 305 tbi. someone put an exhaust and chip in the car b//4 me and it ran good but smoked (valve uide seals) so i had everything apart changing thoes and decided to 86 the egr stuff. since i've done this shes been running lean, still idles smoth but no take off and it dies from time to time. i modded the fpr and diddnt help, i rebuilt the tbi, and changed the injectors (factory size) and still nothing. does anyone make a plug and play programmer for theese cars or is there a way of not having to burn a new chip? any advice is appreciated.

I have a simple solution to your problem..... put the egr back on! It's hurting you more off of the motor than on it. The cool thing is, you didn't have to take it off, if you were into tuning, you could have turned it off. Check for Vacuum leaks. Missing hoses, stuff like that it can cause you to run lean.

the other reason for removing it which i failed to mention earlier, someone hacked out the cat when the exhaust was installed so it wasnt really doing anything anyway (so i thought) and i'm more into the oldschool look of not having anything cluttering up the motor. anyway, there are no vacuum leaks anywhere that i've found so far, anything else that could possibly fix it (other than the obvious return it to stock)

Sounds more like a hardware problem - start checking important things - fuel pressure being #1. Ignition #2. Then everything else. It should still run quite well (not dying and gutless) with the factory tune.

so, update. i found out that the 33 code wasnt for the o2 sensor like i was told but for map low vacuum and since i had access to another map i swapped em out to see what would happen, now it starts lean, ritchens up and goes back and forth violently, still no power and i cant use the a/c because it bggs it down even more.
