Need a source for TBI bonnet

Well I tried hunting around the auto wreckers for a Cadillac TBI bonnet only 4 cars in the yard totally stripped no luck.

Does anyone know the exact model and year of the FWD Cadillacs that used this system. I know it was late 80's to early 90's but I need the exact year and model so I can maybe order it.

I was looking at some of the TBI intakes on eBay. But I’m worried they will not seal well upset MAF readings and let dust in. Has anyone tried one or found one that works well?

Does anyone carry a OEM or aftermarket bonnet?

Thanks

Should be as easy as finding a carb bonnet.

Mine came off ebay. I used an aluminum spacer with built in neophreme rubber gasket/o ring with standard 5.125 AC gasket. No leaks.

Usually, yeah. But in this case, I think he meant.....

"Hood", as in Top. The TOP of a carb/TBI. Right?

Re: Need a source for TBI bonnet

I dont think so. What I did was to drill a hole and install a rubber grommet and used a male/male hose barb fitting to hook the hose up to the grommet. I think it was a PCV grommet for a ford ranger and a 3/8" hose barb fitting. Make sure you measure your grommet with the fitting installed in it before you drill the hole. The hole should be slightly smaller to allow a snug fit.

Re: Need a source for TBI bonnet

btw... TBI does usually not have a MAF sensor, i guess you were speaking of the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor..

I was thinking of drilling and tapping a fitting in.

I looked at a Spectre 9841 plenum locally today but I'll order online. They wanted $115CDN plus 12% taxes.

I'm planning on running a 16197427 PCM from a 95 truck with a 85mm MAF and dimented24x7's code for the 16197427w/MAF.

This will give me a MAF sensor IAT sensor and a MAP sensor as a backup.
Plus it will look cool

Re: Need a source for TBI bonnet

hehe, definately sounds like you know what you're doing
btw, when you get the 9841, could you possibly do some measurements of A, B, C for me like in the attached pic please? i'm trying to find a suitable base for fabbing up an air cleaner assy that can also retain my cowl induction.
thanks in advance

mine came in but i didnt have anything to measure it with, but from the looks of it, the only way it seems like it would work for a cowl hood(meaning turned around towards the windshield) would be to get a spacer ring and put it under the plenum. it will definately clear the stock hood tho

on another note, its a real nice piece. they even gave me a free t-shirt and it came with a bad too. that was totaly unexpected and even tho the shipping took a couple days longer than summit would have, i am very happy with my purchase from partzfinder.com.
