well, i had a plug or wire that had gone out. first thing i do is take alllll the wires off to inspect them, and boom, a giant white burn mark i the middle of cylinder #3 wire. so i buy a new set and put them on. in my rush i shifted all the wires on the dizzy over to the right one peg... well i tried to start it, it started then died. i noticed my mistake(and i had it right the first time, but the number 6 cylinder wire was giving me problems, so i thought i had the placement wrong, never again will i assume something wrong which i know is going to be wrong...) well i go to start it and gas shoots out of the TB. (took the entire air element off) tired again, same problem. tried again, happened again. Well i tried again(i know im a idiot, so please dont call me one in the replies) and put some gas into it then boom, a giant wall off fire come out of the TB... what did i do to cause this? what did i blow or fry? i need quick awnsers, i am fixing it tomorrow after i get off of work and need to know what i have to do. please dot post unless you are productive in my queries.. thank you

Sounds like you've gotten the firing order off, which caused ignition at the wrong time, causing a backfire which melted your eyebrows.

The only way to make sure you get it right at this point, is to get the timing mark set at zero (TDC) on the compression stroke - to do this you have to remove the #1 plug, and hold you finger over the hole while turning the motor over - when you feel air pressure on the #1 plug hole as the mark is coming up to zero, you are at TDC on compression stroke. It's really a 2 person job. You can have someone bump the starter over ever-so-lightly while you hold finger on hole and watch, just take the coil wire off to keep it from firing.

Then, take dist cap off - whatever point that the rotor faces, that's where you want the #1 plug wire connected at the dist. Then follow the firing order around the cap - 18436572 clockwise on the dist cap.

ok, in my other rush to get out of there because i was kinda not in a great mood. i just think i remember that i put the wires backwards... instead of 18436572 it is now firing 12756348... thanks for the reminder about the clockwise part camaronewibe, i knew about that, but just slippedmy mind when istarted to put them back on the dizzy.
