No start after replacing valve cover gasket
So after I changed my drivers side valve cover gasket today I went to start my car up and it fired right up. So I decide to test drive it to make sure everythings intact. I turned the car off then put my open element on then went to start my car and it did nothing. Just like when you have a weak battery or alot of corrosion on the terminals.
I assumed I didnt tighten the cables down after unhooking the negative but I went back and tightened them and removed both of them multiple times and even cleaned them but I couldnt get the car to start. I finally got pissed and closed the hood and the tried one final time and got the car to start. It started up the next 3 times just fine.
Has anyone else ever had this problem? the only things I could think of that Ive messed with that would have caused this was the battery, possibly the brace on the back of the altenator that I painted, and at first I thought I may have popped a fuse when the valve cover touched the back of the altenator but after getting it to start I doubt thats the case.
The car is a 92 RS 305 TBI, also I removed the hood insulation and pulled the plug wire that runs from the distributor cap to the coil but had plugged it back up before I tried to start it.
Any ideas on what the problem was is greatly appreciated.

Re: No start after replacing valve cover gasket
I had this happen when i unhooked my battery, it made my security light come on and i didnt notice it at first, it to wouldnt do anything. After sitting a few minutes it reset i guess and finally started. Its the only thing i can think of for ya.

Re: No start after replacing valve cover gasket
Ok well that makes sense. It did take about 15 minutes to start back up. I wonder why it started up the first time I tried it though. Also wondering if maybe the brace on the back of the altenator isnt also some kind of ground. Anyways thanks for your help man.
