INTAKE MANIFOLD PORTING

Would porting the stock TBI manifold be worth anything?

Re: INTAKE MANIFOLD PORTING

The more air you move the more power you can make. I think its worth something, but changing your cylinder heads will yield more, but upgrading the intake would not hurt.

Re: INTAKE MANIFOLD PORTING

If the engine makes less then 270fwhp leave it alone including the TB, otherwise you will end up disappointed.

Though if you like playing with your engine and have nothing better to do, then do it. It sure can be fun.

Yes, it will be worth more RPM. The problem though is that if your not cammed for more RPM, then as was already mentioned you will in fact be disappointed because your going to lose a little bit of torque down low without realizing the benefit of your port work because your running the very same camshaft. In my opinion, don't concentrate on increasing the overall size of your ports, just focus on velocity porting them. This will speed up the same amount of air being pulled in without sacrificing torque. Meaning, make the pathway as straightforward as possible, with no obstructions, and remember that the fastest path between two points is a straight line (hint hint)....
