305 Cam
Hey. I have 1990 Bird with the 305 in it. Planning on rebuilding it and possibly put a cam in it for a good sound and a little bit of power. The car is basically stock besides headers and no cat and a 3.42 posi rear. Anyone have any reccomendations of a cam i should use? Thanks in advance!

Re: 305 Cam
Any cam with a good idle sound won't work with your TBI. Either pick a cam that will make some torque, or convert to a carb and get a loose torque converter.

Yes good- its been done many times with good success with a lil tuning. We all know the heads are $hiT but a lil more cam is much better than one with no heartbeat to it at all. L98 and LT1 cams are still a mild cam not a high performance cam per say and they are not hard on valvetrain at all.

Re: 305 Cam
And they pull plenty of vacuum, too. But you,re giving up 20 horses in a useful RPM range, just to save $100. Those old posts about the Elgin 1136 for $200 are right, it's a far better choice for LO3 & LO5.
Also, $5 per HP is as good as it gets. Late model guys are paying ten times that.
