Will this suffice???

I have a TBI and would like to keep it if possible. I want to get Vortec Heads, and Edelbrock performer intake and cam. Will these work well together? Also I already have Custom Catback exhaust with my manifold. I want to put headers on it but, I want cheap ones. I also want to avoid going down to 2.5 inches at the collector. Is this possible? Could I use ............lets say Hooker headers with the Edelbrock Y-pipe??? Anything else I should look into? Will the Vortec heads be a bigger hassle than what their worth? Should I try a different brand. Basically Im letting you guys build my car for me....................On a limited budget of course!:hail:

The vortec heads are a great choice, if you realize that you will not be able to bolt them on for around $450. That was my problem, I saw the cheap price and the flow numbers these heads have and was sold. After researching, the vortec heads come close to the price of the World S/R torquer 305s once they have been upgraded to work for a 305 and a cam larger than .45". If you want to go with vortecs I would say that your best bet is to find a used set on ebay that already have been upgraded, should not be too hard vortec heads are always being auctioned.

So Vortec heads arent as big of a pain in the @ss as everyone says? I want them to just bolt on and bingo Im ready. I need a new intake anyways. I want new heads because the "performance" ones I have are 262 heads. Whatever that means but they arent performance. WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK ABOUT THE EDELBROCK INTAKE AND CAM KITS???

Don't get an Edelbrock cam, go with something by Comp Cams, like the 262XE. For vortech heads you need to get a vortech intake.

Me too, but I didn't see it in the catalog and I'm too lazy to call them.

Actually, if you get the Vortec heads you won't need a dual pattern cam like the Comp XE262, because the exhaust flow of the Vortec head is already excellent. Instead, try the Comp HE262, which is single pattern(both intake and exhaust are the same lift) and you might get an extra 5 or 10 hp.

What is it exactly that a cam does. Whats the difference between single pattern and dual???
