Should I buy?
I know this is a third gen board but dont flame me just tryin to get some info. I found a 92 caddy sts for 4500. It's in great shape. but i have some q&a's about the motor and suspension.
first,
It has 142000 miles on it, is that high miles for a north star motor?
What is the longevity of the north star?
he said the air ride control light has been coming on latley, is that a comon problem or is that an expensive issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm meeting him tomorow at 4:00
thanks,

I can't say whether that many miles would be OK or not. What I DO know is that Cadillac EVERYTHING is expensive. REALLLLLLY expensive. If you have to replace anything, you are looking at big bucks. If you want a quick sedan, look into a Buick Regal, or Grand Prix. 3800's are arguably the best V6 out there right now and they are proven to be very durable. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I have a 91 deVille (wife's land barge) with over 200k on it, so I'd say no, 142k isn't terribly high.
If it's the same block and all as the 4.9, then it has a reputation for going through main bearings. I know a tech at a Buick dealer who used to have one, he would just up and change them every 50k miles or so, which can be done in less than 2 hours on a rack.
i can't think of any one single part of the car more expensive than the air ride.... if i could remove that from my wife's car and just put regular shocks & struts on it, I'd have done it years ago.
If the car runs & drives oK that's probably a decent price, and take out the light bulb.
