4 Bolt 350 Questions.
Ok hers the deal, a friend of mine gave me a 4 bolt 350 Sunday. It has a small chunk taken out of the bottom of one of the cylinders. The chunk is from where a broken rod hit the block. It is as wide as a rod and and ~1/4-1/2 of an inch deep. Is the block still good? Second I've searched and cannt find, how much HP can a 4 bolt handle and a 2 bolt handle? The 305 will still run 13's before the motor goes in! But, 13's just arent fast enuff.

have it dyed, mag, sonic, and/or preasure tested, i'll bet there's a crack in the hole with the missing piece and the main cap. it'd look it over real good and i ithnk i'd still not use it considering how easy it is to come by another block.

As said before as long as there is not a large crack it can be ground down (to reduse stress at that point) . As long as the oil ring isnt uncovered by about an 1/8th of an inch it should be fine. Have it magged and see if its cracked bad.
