just got an 87 iroc...questions inside
hey guys just picked up an 87 iroc mostly torn apart.. it was a 350 tpi car but im swapping in my 350 with a carb since theres no engine in it.. what will i have to do as far as wiring? i know i need to make the fuel pump hot with key in run and such but what all is involved? do i leave the ecu hooked up? run my own wires? lookin for as much info as possible.. will have many MANY other questions as this project gets started.. also its has the borg wagner 9 bolt rear.. what are possible gear ratio's? it was a 350 tpi auto car... the ac is almost completely removed - the ac box.. what will i need to delete this? will i be able to use current blower motor and heatercore or will i need to replace with non-ac parts? any info would be extremely appreciated!

distributor wiring is usable.....but go with an HEI distributor/coil.....big pink wire is "bat", white wire is tach, chop the connector off and put the female end for a spade on it.....beyond that, starter wiring and all grounds.....and if you have an electric choke on the carb, you'll have to run that....
and now that I just remembered, you'll have to wire the radiator fan up somehow....there's a tech article on this site for that
Is that everything, or am I missing some stuff?
BTW, the way my car's set up, I have the computer hooked up--the tach wire, the VSS, and hopefully that's all it needs to tell the torque converter when to lock/unlock
I orignally have an LG4 in my '87, now I have a 350 that will soon be up and running

yeah i forgot to mention that.. it has a 700r4 in it with a lockup converter.. is that all you need to make the lockup work?? if so that sounds easy enough!

I'm not sure if that'll work or not for the lockup. I'm *hoping* it will, because those are the only two things that I'm aware of that the ecm *could* use to know when to lock it. Nothing else would make sense......either it locks at a specific rpm, or at a specific mph. although it might try to vary it based on throttle position or other driving conditions related details, but those should be the primary indicators for it
Any electronics/transmission experts have any info on this?
