Is this cam installed wrong ?

Hey everyone. I had my shortblock built by a reputable machine shop here locally. Now I'm at the point where I need to adjust the valves and something just doesn't add up. I'm not sure TDC is.... TDC. As I turn the motor clockwise to go towards #1 TDC the exhaust valve on number is is closing. BUT when I look in the hole on #1 the piston is down and both valves on number #8 are closed. If I turn it 360 degrees, the piston comes up and #8 exhaust is opened. Does that sound right to you guys ??

Watch #1 valves. With the timing mark up (#1 TDC), one of 2 things should be happening; either both valves should be closed, or the E should be just closing and the I just opening. Turn the crank 360° and the other thing of those 2 should happen. Turn it 360° again, and the first thing should happen again.

Well how can either of the "two things" happend when you're at TDC ? Shouldn't both valves be closed and that's IT ?

it takes two revolutions of the crank to make one cycle

Right. I'm still not that hardcore to where I can "just know" when the engine is at TDC and on the "bang" stroke.

I always spin the engine around a couple times to be sure. I watch the valves and go thru the "suck, squish, bang, blow" cycle

LOL !!

I guess I'm idiot... I figured it out. I just followed RB's advice on watching the exhaust valve on #6 close AS you're approacing the TDC mark. That seemed to work beautifully. I wasn't in the position where I had to adjust that valve that's supposed to opened anymore. LOL

All the valves are set right now at .015 lash I'm about to drop it in right now....
