I say the 40 series. It's the loudest out of them all. Other than the race 1 chamber flowmaster though. But I would get a 40. But I don't think those are the best for performance though. If your car has alot of hp anywayz.

I didn't even know there were different "series". When I got mine I just said I want a Flowmaster for a '85 Camaro and they hooked me up. The guy I talked to at Pro Max, where I got my muffler, drives a '87 Z28 with a Flowmaster so I think he gave me the same series as his. What ever series it is, I love it!

80 series is standard for all firebirds and camaro's, its specifically made for those cars and it sounds great and add's some good power, but I think that the 40 series is a little louder and a deeper tone, i have a 40 and get people turning heads all the time.

I have the three chamber Flowmaster for the simple reason that the area I live in. I dont want people to hear this REALLY nice sound and want to take it from me.
So, I keep it somewhat quiet. It still has a nice little growl to it though.

The Mufflex systems use a 30 series. The FM website has a sort of bar graph that indicates sound quality and level. They claim the 30s are "deep", right in the middle of the scale, as opposed to aggressive and mellow etc.
I can tell you this 4" setup is mean looking. Just looking at the muffler brings heart palpitations. Not sure how it will sound. Have heard that it is "deeper" than usual. I prefer the deeper tones instead of that crackling higher pitch. However, even though the deeper sound is generally deemed quiter, the lower frequencies have a tendancy to induce headaches just the same. They seem to resonate more. Mufflex compares their 3.5 inch with their 4 inch. They claim the larger system may reduce overall sound level or db. So it does appear, the larger the pipe the lower the pitch. I am not sure how internal design of the muffler might sculpt different sounds from different mufflers.
Any more first hand detailed descriptions of FM sound? Any Mufflex system owners?
