Header Removal
What kind of screws look kinda like stars, but arent torx? It almost makes me thing its a 16 sided bolt head, and that a 16 sided wrench should do the trick. Clearance may be a problem....
Also, I hear a lot of people talk about broken studs, I assume they mean these bolts....considering these headers were installed about 3 years ago, what do you think the chances of the bolts coming out intact are? Any suggestions on places for good clearance to remove them?
Thanks
Background:
Ok, well, I got the 305 all disconnected, or so I thought. Threw the cherry picker on it and begin to hoist it out.....then the car nearly slips off the jack stands, as it was lifed off them by the transmission! One of the scariest moments of my life. Turns out the motor will not come forward because of the header collectors. Now the motor isn't centered, its shifter to the drivers side....which is the header that needs to come off.

They're probably 12-point, probably either 3/8" or 7/16" "12-point hex". Just go to Sears and get a 3/8 - 7/16 12-point box-end wrench. You might find it worth while to make sure you have every possible 12-point tool in whichever size it is; deep socket, shallow socket, etc.
Usually when people talk about broken studs in exhaust, they're talking about the studs in the manifold that the Y-pipe hooks to; you don't have them any more.
Header bolts usually aren't too bad about coming out. As long as you can get to them with a tool, you should be OK.

Sounds good, weather is supposed to be bad the rest of this week, so I'll probably get the headers off this weekend. I am glad to hear I dont need to worry about those studs....I have heard way too many horror stories lol
