is it normal for the valves/springs to CLICK when its not running??
as we all know i ported and polished my heads, ...slap them on, ...turn it ober,...two turns and batt dies....doh...no one here to charge it either./...so my question here is....Why are they clicking while its not running ....are the springs settling or something??? did i do something wrong??? i installed new push rods....are THEY settling??? whats the deal here this scares me....

Hmm...I'm kinda stumped on this one. The motor wasn't even hot cause you never even got it started right? The only thing that I can think of is maybe you're hearing air bubbles in the intake or the heads or something?

Are you certain it's the springs, and not the castings crackling? That usually happens during heat/cool cycles, and would probably be more prevalent on a freshly assembled engine that hasn't experienced a lot of thermal cycling.

Well I'm assuming that it wasn't hot since he said that he just slapped the heads on and cranked it twice. So if he slapped on a new set of heads before the engine cooled down, then he's better then I am

heh, what im saying is, the engine turned over Twice, never cranked up...and yes positive it was the springs settling or whatever , i had my hand on them, and felt the popping...it quit after i got it started and it ran awhile.....and it was ALL the valves ....was weird...
