long wait to start

Ok guys maybe you can help. My 89 tpi has a difficult time starting. It cranks for about a minute when cold then starts. It starts fine when its warm. It also has a slight stumble from idle. I need my power back! I just replaced the injectors and all upper gaskets. It didnt fix the problem like I had hoped it would. I had the plenum and fuel rail hot tanked and all. Ohh yeah also fuel filter. What else could it be?

You did check the rest of the vacuum system for leaks, didn't you? Did you replace the injector o-rings? How well does the throttle position sensor work and does it need adjusting?
Try replacing the fuel pump relay if the f/p doesn't prime when ignition is turned to the run position and the engine is not running. If it is not that, have the ECM tested by a dealer or a parts house that will do it. ECM was my problem...

The same thing happened when I replaced my injectors with brand new ones. Mine winded up being a injector leaking. I made the mistake of not testing them before I put the injector rail back in. What you can do is lift the injector rail up where you can watch the bottom of injectors, turn key on two or three times to pressurize the system and watch the bottom of the injectors, you should see no fuel coming out. You might get a drip after a minute but you should not get anything to maybe one small drip after a minute or two. You can also confirm this by putting an fuel pressure guage on and watching how quick the pressure drops after you turn vehicle off, it should not go back to zero for at least 5 to 10 minutes, mine was dropping withing a minute or two, winded up being one leaking BRAND NEW INJECTOR, had to send back and get another one.
