Torquer 305 heads and EGR

Do you have to drill a passage in the S/R Torquer 305 heads for the EGR? I found an article on World Products website that mentions drilling a hole in the heads for the EGR. If this has to be done, is there a way to disable the EGR other than reprogramming the chip?

The S/R heads all have the cross-over passage.

I believe it's the Sportsmans that have to be drilled.
