Battery Spark, Any Things To Check

Wal Mart battery, may be the first sign and family friend hit neg to postive and got small spark. Checked it today and battery is almost dead, was new on shelf, but will charge it up and wondered what I may need to check?\

I put it into engine service mode but only got 12 which means it's checking but found nothing.

Not sure which electrical systems you can actually check, but if it makes you feel better I've accidentally done that quite a few times on the cars I've owned. I only killed a battery once, and I never had any electrical problems because of the short.

Thanks, I never had problems, but cars were a lot older then 93.

Believe battery's charge went down because battery sets on floor in store awhile until sold verses being charged full first before selling them.

I was also anxious to see what or how motor ran after cleaning it up, shaving heads and new head gasket a .046 decrease in Combustion chamber size and a 40 quench like it should of been, if I really be able to tell the difference or not. Better quench and more compression, cool.

Motor looks nicer, clean but still need a dual stud air cleaner, stock chrome Edelbrock Top still leaves much to desire seems clutter still under hood.

Placing a lead/acid battery on a floor (concrete or otherwise) won't affect its life nor performance. That's an old wives' tale, propagated by those who still believe electricity is an "evil force" whose power can only be safely harnessed in small amounts by us mere mortals. These are likely the same people who still swear by STP, throw salt over their left shoulders, and lick the bases of light bulbs for "better contact".

I was talking about store racks by the way not directly on floor and setting for sell on store rack for over a month verses in car or directly fully charge as I am doing now before putting it in truck so it has a full charge, Luke I am your Father. Yea right.

Your theory may be right. It's always advisable to fully charge a new battery before placing in it service.

I wondered what may go wrong such as Starter Sylnoid alternator that motor after this will not turn and barely hear a slight buzz when key is turned.

I had shop that sold me battery check it and it checked out ok, could it shorted fuseable link, alternator and what would keep it from even turning over let alone starting, Please any info appreciated???

After charged and double check still nothing?
