Where is the ignition switch?
And does it just go bad or can it be a intermitant(spelling ) problem? Here's the deal, I changed the battery, ignition lock, starter, used resitors in place of resitor on my key, removed my alarm system, installed a new MSD Digital 6 ignition, (hum what else???) and I still have a problem (sometimes) with a dead ignition. I thought I had it fixed cause lately It's been starting every time. Today I was on my way to Moroso to see the Imports run and laugh at the big *** slicks on the front wheel drive cars(That's hard to get used to), and I stop for smokes, come out and BAM(like Emeril) nothing, push started it and hauled *** home. Please any ideas would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
There are several possibilities:
1. The switch actuator linkage is worn to the point where it will no longer move the switch far enough to operate the START contacts;
2. The clutch safety switch is not reliable;
3. The switch itself is failing.
The switch linkage is actually pulled upward to operate, not pushed downward as you might expect. The system looks something like this:

i just replaced this on my 86, it's towards the middle of the column on the upper part of it, you have to lower the steering column to really get to it, you also have to remove the highbeam switch that's located next to the ignition switch be careful with the rod to the switch cause when it comes off the lever it's a pain to get back in there, mine started all the time, then sometimes i turn the key and nothing keep turning and boom, then eventually no more starting, changed the ignition switch and all is good
