Flow Direction of Fuel Filter?

hey guys.....

well I just replaced my fuel filter after hours and hours of trying to get it off......FINALLY.....but now my car still won't start and NOW there isn't even fuel going through the injectors!!!! I put gas in it too just to make sure I didn't lose it all during the swap. So I'm wondering if possibly I put the filter on backwards? I put the side that says "OUT" on the passanger side......is that right?

ughhh :'(

Thanks

Whichever line goes to the enginebay is the out. Many filters also have an arrow on them pointing the direction of correct fuel flow. Take the filter back off, and put a rubber hose over the line coming from the tank. Put that line into a glass jar and prime the pump. You should get something like one pint of fluid for every 20 seconds. If this is adequate, it's usually an indication that the pressure is good as well. If you are getting the flow, check and see if the injectors are actually firing. DONT use a test light, you'll fry the injector drivers. Use a noid light.

How long did you crank the engine before you gave up? It will take longer to fire after you open the system up, because the air needs to be purged from the system.

take your fuel filter out again and double check.

the way i typically check fuel filters direction is by blowing into one side, if i cant feel any air coming out the other side then that means that that side is the "OUT" or "TO ENGINE" side

IN = From gas tank
OUT = To Engine

Slide under and look at the fuel line toward the passengers side. If it comes out of the filter and heads toward the front of the car this is the out end.

Of course this is if you are located in a country where you drive on the right-hand side of the road. . .
