location of the coolant temperature sensor

I have an 87 iroc with tpi, Battery is on the passenger side and the air conditioner compressor is on the driver's side of the engine compartment. I need to know where the coolant temperature sending unit is. not the sending unit for the fan. thanks for any help.

IIRC, it's the sensor in the front middle of the intake manifold.

Your title for this post was about the location of the coolant "sensor" but your post asks about the coolant "sender". The coolant temp 'sensor' is located on the front edge of the intake manifold and provides info to the ECM. The coolant temp 'sender' is located on the drivers side cylinder head and operates your temp gauge.
