Compression ratio
Can someone explain or help me understand a lil bit... compression ratio of what?.. I know the higher the comp ratio the less chance you have to use pump gas?
Thanks

Basically, the area (volume) in the piston chamber when the piston is all the way up (top dead center) versus when it is all the way down (bottom dead center).

Higher compression burns faster, so you want higher octane because it burns slower. If you have high compression low octane explodes instead of burning(detonation) this kills valve seats, valves, pistons, rings, plugs, basically everything. Compression ratio for instance the cylinder displaces 712.5 cubic centimeters, the combustion chamber is only 64 cc's. Your compression ratio is 11 to 1 (11:1). Just a little more technical that is static compression, actual compression depends on volumetric efficiency.
