Engine questions!!!

I have a rebuilt 350 (my spare motor) and I will probably put it in my T/A before next summer. It was built for torgue (262 ad. dur.) and was meant to be in full size Chevy pickup. I want to make some improvments to it before I put it in the T/A.

I am wondering what parts to get. I want lots of hp , decent mpg and has to be able to use my T/A as a daily driver (so 3500 stall converter is out of the question). I know that I canīt get it all so it will be some kind of compromise

I usually donīt rev my engine past 5000-5500 rpm. I am planning to buy roller cam and lifters, probably roller rockers.

I have some questons:
Heads, stock or aluminum (how much do I gain by using aluminum heads)?
Cam, what duration?
Rear diff, stock (2.77), aftermarket, 3.XX?
Stall converter, stock or aftermarket?

My uncle is offering me Holley injection (for 300+ hp), is that something I should consider or should I use some carb?

My car is:
86 T/A, 305HO hyd Roller (currently) , TH700R4, 2.77, 10 bolt, MSD6AL, headers, Holley 600, edelbrock Torker II intake.

The spare engine is 79 or older 350, 4 bolt, rebuilt.

Thanks in advange,

Nonni

If you can get the fuel injection for cheap then get it!!! I would suggest uping your rearend to 3.43gears. I Would also suggest alluminum heads off a vette, there for about 330hp unported. You would also realize about a 40 pound difference.

Those heads could be what I am looking for, do you now how much alluminum heads off a vette would cost me? Do you know the chamber size of them?

Thanks in advange,

Heads? Ported Vortecs (what I use) work VERY nicely and aren't that expensive. If you go aftermarket/aluminum, i'd stick with Edelbrock or Trickflow. If you want premium performance stock heads won't be what you want.

Stick with that aftermarket fuel injection if you like better gas mileage, more power (if tuned correctly). Cons are harder to tune, having to deal with the computer,etc...

Rear end, go with 3.73 or 3.43 . Great low-end without killing all your top end.

Keep your torque convertor under 2500 if you want to street it.

For cams, I went with a 222 duration cam. It was good for a future nitrous motor.
