LS1 and L98 Torque
L98 V8 9.3:1 5.7 (350)
245@4400 horsepower
345@3200 torque
LS1 v8 5.7 (350)
310 @5,200 rpm horsepower
(325 w/ Ram Air)
340 ft-lbs @4,000 Ram Air
(350 with Ram Air @4,000 rpm)
Look at the torque specs. I got the numbers from this site and a pontiac dealer brochure....does the 91 L98 actually have more torque than the non-ram-air trans am with the LS1.

You're point being ...
We know this. What the LS1 doesn't have down low, it makes up for on the mid-upper rpms. Likewise what the TPI doesn't have in the upper end, it more than satisfies on the lower-mid end. Also if you noticed, add the LT1 to this comparison and you'll see the torque has remained relatively the same.
OBTW, the LS1 is a 346 10:1 engine.

It just generates a bunch of torque in that sweet spot around 3200 where the resonant frequency of the runners comes into play. Then, right after that, it all disappears...
