1990 Corvette L98 into 1991 L98 Z28
I have an opportunity to buy a L98 motor with 35K. I know about drilling the extra hole in the head for the bracket, I would have to use the L98 manifold
for the EGR passage and modify my passenger header and use my fuel rail since the lines are on the driver's side. My question is since they are both SD and both 5.7, can I use my computer and small cap distributor? Also, do I hook up the EGR the same way as the factory Camaro L98?

Less than 12 hours isn't always enough time for an educated person to come across your thread.

Just use your existing wiring, ECM and intake. The small cap you can reuse too. You can delete the EGR out of the prom and not worry about hooking it up.

Re: 1990 Corvette L98 into 1991 L98 Z28
Funny you should post this. I posted a similar question in the past. I have a 44,000 mile L98 from a 1991 Corvette I'm putting in my 1992 Formula 350. I am going to use the upper and lower intake as well as the distributor from my Form. I guess I will just see what else I need as it is being installed. Still throwing ideas around about a cam, HSR, and maybe a swap to a T56. Here's how I sit now

Tuned Performance on this board does them but his sometimes hard to get ahold of.
If you delet the EGR then you won't need to swap the lower intake manifold, just make a block off plate for the egr tube on the rear of the intake.
Also if either of you would sell the complete vet large cap distributor (esp if it has the factory coil cover with bar code decal) let me know.

Hi All,
I know this is an older post but there’s not much about this swap. My question is:
Can you use the stock cast iron exhaust manifolds with the corvette aluminum head l98 swap in our cars?

Yes, the exhaust manifolds will bolt up to the heads, however you will not be able to run the external EGR tube, if you are planning to keep the EGR system.

Awesome. Thank you GTA350, that’s exactly what I wanted to hear. I can always get the EGR block off cap & remove it from the ECU.

Also need to consider the intake manifold or lower TPI base (whichever applies to your application). The aluminum L98 heads use the older 86’ and earlier intake bolt pattern.

Re: 1990 Corvette L98 into 1991 L98 Z28
Yes I have a brand new set of #113 casting aluminum heads and a brand new corvette lower TPI intake manifold base. I just need the EGR block off plate.
Thanks again!
