Im looking for tips and pics anyone who's done this, what size cooler and results. I've installed a Vortech on my 91 Formula, it's seems a better option than an air to air considering the birds poor airflow. No AC condenser so I believe i can fit a heat exchanger there. I have a larger spearco but I cant get it to fit reasonably, would it be safe to go smaller yet still get acceptable results? Any input greatly appreciated
Im assuming you cut the battery trays for pipes to run through? How's lag with that length of pipe? I guess I'm not ultimately opposed to A2A, just seemed A2W would be more ideal in this scenario. Nice lookun setup BTW. I also considered water meth, but worried about even distribution with my intake
The pass side is where my battery is. There was just enough space between that battery, the wheel well and the frame horn/unibody structure. The battery is bolted in the stock spot. I was gonna do Air to water and the fabricator told me not to wast my time/money. This works awesome. Theres no lag.
the IC is in front of the radiator and the triangular support that goes from the bottom of the radiator support to the hood latch support was removed and the IC is in its place. The fabricator built a support into the IC to replace the triangular piece and support the hood latch/nose panel.
The fabricator built it. I don't know what core he started with. He builds 2-3000 hp stuff all the time. He's insane. When my car was on the dyno the guys running the dyno and tuning were like, thats an awesome intercooler. The more I get on it the lower my IATs(within reason) The cold pipe can literally be cold to the touch on days in the low 70s. It's really awesome.
Wonder if it has some kind of internal evaporative cooling system going on? I recall reading about some prototype passive evaporative liquid coolers for computers a few years back, something to the effect of "liquid inside tubes gets hot, rises to the top, cooler fluid sinks to the bottom". I believe they're called thermosiphons, though I'm not sure whether or not they can achieve sub-ambient temps.... whatever's going on there, I'd be very curious to know, sounds like a pretty trick piece
