BAD times from L98, is my car tired???

Alright... I went to the track last night after the SLP 1 5/8 headers were installed and my times were worse.

I ran a 14.4 @ 96mph about a month ago with a 2.1 60 foot time. This was with stock exhaust manifolds, no muffler, stock chip, stock air boxes, and 180 stat.

Last night I ran a best of a 14.415 @ 95mph with a 2.051 60 foot time. Mind you, this time was the BEST out of the three.... the other two were bad (14.58, 14.767). In addition, these times were obtained with SLP 1 5/8 headers, monza pace setter cat back, modified air boxes with ram air, !TB coolant, hypertech chip and 160 stat with the fuel pressure at 49psi.

The 14.4 pass was made manually shifting and holding the car in first until about 4800. The 14.7 and 14.5 were with the shifter set in 'D'.

What is up with this? I was expecting 14.0, flirting with the 13's and I also expeected to be getting 100mph trap times. I guess I was seriously wrong. Is my car just tired with 110,000 miles on it? What else could be wrong?

Try putting in some new valve springs. Yours are getting old.

How the heck is a 14.4 a BAD time ? That's what most mostly stock L98s run, and yours isnt very modified except for an exhaust system.

I think your times are respectable.

I would try changing your shift points to around 5000. Toy around with it. Try it a little higher, then a little lower.

Also, how are you launching?

Where is your base timing set at?

Do you have the airbox cut out and K&N's? Edit: I see now you do.

They are "bad times" becuase just like you said, stock L98's run that time. I have mods that should be lowering my ET. The headers and cat back should lower it nicely... the hypertech chip and umnderdrive pulleys should do some work as well.

Another reason why they are "bad times" is because I ran BETTER TIMES AND HIGHER MPH with the stock exhaust manifolds, no muffler, stock chip, 180 stat, and unmodified air boxes with no ram air or coolant bypass!!!

Were the weather conditions different when you made the runs? I'd ax the Hypertech and 160 stat and put the stock chip and 180 stat back in. With a 160 stat AND a bump up in fuel pressure (go back to 45-46psi), I'd say that you're running too rich. It's also been my experience that cars actually run SLOWER with Hypercrap and it's associated programming. Just my take on the situation.
