Please save my sanity. The guy at the exhaust shop is ordering me a 3 inch pipe for between the cat and the muffler. I measured the pipe, and it is 3 inches in the middle and 2 3/4 near the ends (like a foot away from the ends). And it goes INTO a 2 1/2 inch muffler clamp. Also, the 3 inch pipe has an indentation in it which brings it down to a 3 inch x 2 inch where it goes over a suspension part just before the muffler. Is this what a 3 inch pipe behaves like ? Also, how do you measure an exh pipe? I've been using a c clamp.

I believe you measure the exhaust size from the inside diameter. The intermediate pipe goes from the cat to the rear end, which you say is 3" then you have a bent pipe, the best is mandrel bent which curves over the rear. I don't believe any of our cars came stock with 3" intermediate as far as I know.
