Running rich and have smoke on startup please help!

I get a code 45 which is rich exhaust usually when I'm cruising on the freeway but also sometimes when cruising at low speeds. I have replaced my oxygen sensor, spark plugs and wires in the last couple of months. Also when I start up my car for the first time it will let out a huge puff of smoke that has gone from being faint to more obvious. Could the fact that I'm running mobil one 5W30 have anything to do with it? And when I floor it sometimes there will be some faint smoke. My mods are in my sig if that helps. Please help me out with this.

Maybe Your Valve seals for smoking problem.. I had the same thing happen to mine after I parked it for a year. Try running 10w-30 for an oil change or two and see if it gets better....

Valve seats for sure about the smoke on start up. but i hope its not your injectors why the car is burning rich... My Z-28 was burning rich all the time. Tried everything but in the end it was the injectors the resitance was messed up on 4 of them.. so I replaced all of them $130 cdn each... but the car runs like it has never before.. can't get traction at the track with standard radials, time for slicks!!

How do I find out if my injectors are working properly? What other things should I check out to fix the rich condition? I will try 10W30 on my next oil change and see if that helps the smoke. Can anyone tell me why it smokes faintly at wot?

Uh...you mean take the VALVE COVERS off, right? It would be ridiculous to remove the heads just for a valve seal replacement. Now valve GUIDES are another animal.

Mine did the same thing when I switched to M1, and a set of Fel-Pro valve stem seals did the trick. Hope this helps.
