Tpi tunning issue

Hey guys, have a few questions. I am working on a truck for a friend of mine, the truck has a TPI motor in it with a painless harness. I am assuming its a 90-92 tpi setup, no MAS, has MAP sensor. It stumbles hard after idle and runs rich, bellows black smoke. It throws a code 36, and 44. I have replaced damn near every sensor i could think off and just put a new MAP senson on it. After that it ran good for 10 minutes, took it for a drive and almost couldn't get it back in the driveway it runs so bad, cannot keep it running unless you throttle it hard. Any sugggestions?

Re: Tpi tunning issue

Strat by troubleshooting not replacing parts. We have no idea what's been done to this motor if anything but it helps to use a guideline. Hopefully the harness is pinned correctly.http://www.chevythunder.com/est_code_42.htm

Re: Tpi tunning issue

I have been troubleshooting. But when all else fails, remove and replace. I would hope the harness is correct, coming from Painless but a possibility it could be miss pinned. I will check that. I did find a dead spot on the TPS sensor today, when i bought the new one from Napa, it came adjustable, slotted screw holes. How do you set that? Never seen that before.

Speed density ecm doesn't care what the tps is set at. As long as the blades are shut it'll be accurate. It takes the baseline voltage and figures off that.
