I recently found an issue of CHP thats a few monts old, and they did a buildup w/ a set of afr 180's and a comp xe268. this setup made nice power through a wide range, this interested me. i visited the afr website and ordered a catalog, which came yesterday. i checked it out and it looks like the 180's and 190's flow virtually the same. whats the deal? the magazine article said that if you have 2 heads that flow the same, you should use the ones w/ smaller intake ports for better velocity and low-end power. anyone want to shed some light on advantages/disadvantages of either of these???

Where did you find flow numbers for the AFR 180cc heads at? I know they mention the 180's on there site, but I've not been able to find any info on them...only the 190's and larger heads.

Are they Al. heads or CI?

You can out flow the AFR190s with a stock "peanut" cam if you use the Pro Action 23° Iron Lightning heads - 205 SCFM @ .300" lifts, 250 SCFM @ .400" lifts, 265 SCFM @ .500 lifts, etc. (And if you're interested, over 300 SCFM with porting at .700" lifts).

And they are not very expensive, but those who can't stand the thought of an iron head might not be interested.

ive been interested in AFR heads for some time now,after being told about them by a good friend...i also ordered their catalog,and noticed they have flow comparison charts for(not sure what size) edelbrock,twisted wedge,brodix track I,and the AFR's
and frankly,the AFR's were o ntop in almost if not all categories...
i was really surpised,and i love the prices..
im planning on going with the AFR 195's on my 305...but im looking to drop my compression out of the 9xx's:1 area for the install of a turbo...

aren't the pro action head 210 or 220 on the intake side, pretty big for tpi . . .
