Idle question when cold........

Car: 1989 Pontiac GTA Hardtop.
Engine: ZZ4 - 350
Transmission: Garbage
Idle question when cold........
Hey guys, my car runs great, and I really have no problems with it, but I do have one question. When I start the car in the morning when it is cold, it starts right up, but the RPM's fluctuate "Up & Down, Up & Down, for about one minute. It doesn't want to stall or anything, just idles up and down for about a minute. What causes this? How hard is it to fix, or diagnose? The car has 100000 miles on it, should I just not even worry about it since it runs great ?

Car: 1988 IROC-Z
Engine: L98 (350 TPI)
Transmission: MD8 (700 R4) + 3.42 LS1 Rear
mine does the same when it's cold you start it up and it idles are 1100 then the rpms drop to 700 and then the idle goes up and down for about a min or 2. then the rpms settle to about 700 again. hey i have the same problem? i don't know if it is or not but i agree with Mkos. i believe the IAC Valve need to be replaced or cleaned/lubricated.

Thanks Guys!!!! But what is the IAC Valve, and where is it? Hopefully it isn't too expensive, because I will probably change it if it is easy to get to. Thanks again!
