Is An Aluminum Timing Cover Better?

Is there an advantage to using an aluminum front timing cover over the standard stamped steel type?

Does it seal better? Do you need a different type of crank seal and pan gasket?

Anyone used one? What do you think?

I think I would stick with steel. I tried chrome and they aren't worth sheit. Not sure about aluminum.

Aluminum covers are cast instead of stamped, so they should seal better and deflect less if you're using a cam button.

Thanks

Not using a cam button, I don't want any leaks. So if I would have a better seal with the aluminum I will give it a try

Steel covers seal just fine when they're installed correctly.

thats the #1 reason.

they also dont deflect, if you're using a cam button... liked he said.

as long as they're made well, they shouldnt leak.

I was gonna say that. Long as it's a good name brand part and hasn't been made in Tiawan or some place like that, you should be fine.
