I am the owner of American Thunder Motorsports. I helped supply parts and services for the project. Also the motor is for the "Company Car".

Well it's already made it's power. They Dyno tuned it back in Late July, Both Au Natural and Boosted. I took photos of both, then Super Chevy broke it up into two sections. November Issue "Au Natural" & December Issue " Supercharged". Lets just say the dust has settled and the car is going to be a hand full.
Sorry I don't want to spoil it for those of you that want to wait for next months issue.

Article said it made 481 without any boost. Didn't mention the compression ratio of the engine but I'll bet it's way too low for best N/A power. Especially considering the montser 250* @050 solid roller cam they shoved into it (on a rather wide, blower-friendly 114* LSA). All of this does nothing but hurt N/A performance. But when you start shoving serious boost into the motor it's exactly what you want. They're only a little over 200 HP away from their goal of 700 right now. Throw 15-20 PSI of intercooled boost on top of that and I'd say they'll overshoot their goal by a fairly wide margin.

Yea, the motor finished with 8:6:1 compression. And with the D1-SC blower it made 15lbs of boost. At the time of the Dyno the Intercooler was connected but didn't really serve any performance gains, because it was 100+ degrees outside that July afternoon. So you could imagine what the Air Temps would be inside the Dyno room with no fan on the motor or any cool air going through the Intercooler. The Guys at Vrbancic Bros actually wanted to take the Intercooler off the motor cause it was a mute point, But the editor at Super Chevy Insisted that it stay on for asthetic reasons.
Just Somthing to Think about. This HSR 406 Compared to the New LS7 Motor in the new ZO6. The HSR Motor is Giving up 21 Cubic inches, 3 Full Compression Points and has a inferior head design, not to mention way to much fuel for a naturaly aspirated motor (65lbs Injectors) and is only 24hp off the pace. Maybe it's just me but I think thats pretty Darn good.

Tuche! You are correct with the smog **** assement. And Maybe you have somthing with the gas Mileage. The Motor was done with 91 Arco Pump Gas and the motor is Equiped with Commander 950 with the Pro Software and Wideband O2. I Might be able to make a gas milage ultra conservitive map in the ECM and keep my foot out of it for one full tank of gas, just to see if it would come close to the Figures GM is claiming for the ZO6. In the name of Science of Course. Smooth Idle though is over rated. On that topic I'll keep my lopey Idel any day.

True, but the LS-7 is also giving up about 40* of cam duration!
Not trying to start a fight becuase I definitely agree that's good power for an old 23* Gen1 small block, especially given that it's a horribly mismatched combo without the boost being blown into it.

Yep i agree a dead stock idle is no fun. I like a little lope and shake to remind me i'm driving a car not a sensory deprivation chamber. It's too easy to fall asleep at the wheel that way .
I think the Z06 is a bad *** car, GM finally threw some real smack down. I can't wait to see what it will do once the likes of Lingenfelter get their hands on it. Also it is rumored that an SS version is in the works with a magnusson supercharger. Would rather a big cammed properly intercooled centrifugal version myself. Can't wait to see what numbers people are going to produce!

Yea, theres no doubt the New Zo6 is sick. I have a 05 C6 that was Bassani Exhausts R&D Car for Last years SEMA Show. That thing Moves really good so I can Imagine what a 427 with 430 to 440 @ wheels would be like.
