fuel pump dilemma

Hello all,

I have tried just about everything to get my fuel pump to stop
running ALL THE TIME. I replaced the pump itself, oil pressure switch, tbi unit, fuel pump relay, ecm and I am now in the process of getting a replacement engine wiring harness.
I believe the moron whom had this car before me rigged the car
so the fuel would constantly run. I don't know how OR WHY!!
As I looked in the engine compartment, it looks like this dude
messed around with the wiring that gets connected to the fuel
pump relay. When I first looked at it, it looked like there was a
small fire 'cause some of the wires looked burnt. I had replaced
the relay and repaired the wires according to the way it looked
as I figured that was how it was supposed to be. I am truly
beginning to think that this is why my fuel pump continues to run
and doesn't shut off after a few seconds of the key being turned
to the on position.
I was wondering if anyone could take a picture of their fuel pump
relay and the wiring that goes to it so I can see if that IS what the
problem with my car is.

Thanks

If I didn't mention it, it is a 92 'bird with a tbi v-8 engine (E)
Also forgot to mention that all the fuses are ok.

Assuming the other wiring is OK - I know you said you replaced it, but.... The fuel pump ONLY gets power from the battery, and ONLY directly through the Oil Pressure Sending Unit. My 1992 did the same thing, and it drove me crazy why the battery always went dead after 3 days of sitting - turns out it was circulating fuel ALWAYS!. The Oil Pressure Sending Unit should be directly above the oil filter on your car. The thing cost like $30 from AutoZone. If this is the one you replaced, then try another one - maybe a CarQuest piece instead - Carquest will be more $$, but I don't like Autozone for electrical parts.

Might just try another one BEFORE doing an entire harness replacement.

Also, you can swap the fuel relay with the other one as a test - the other relay right beside the fuel relay controls the rad fan, if you swap and still have the same problem, and the rad fan still works, then that wiring, as bad as it may look, may be all ok.

For wiring diags, try a Chiltons - DO NOT get the Haynes book, as it doesn't have the wiring for the fuel system on a TBI car (they skipped that page in BOTH of my Haynes books).

I didn't really replace the wiring so much as I repaired the section
that was charred. I did replace the oil pressure switch AND the
relay. I believe that they both were ac delco. I know the oil
pressure switch was as I worked at a gm dealership when it
was handed to me.
But what seems wierd is that the previous owner did some kind
of splicing deal. The fuel pump relay seems to be spliced into the
fan relay. If a wiring diagram will possibly shed some more
insight then I will take a look at that this weekend (I have both
chilton and haynes).
I guess it is possible that I could have gotten two bad replacement components. Odd as is may seem but that is kind of
how my luck with this car has been going.

Thanks!

Any other suggestions?

Chilton doesn't have fuel pump wiring either from what I've seen.
